#Odisha Govt to open 34 COVID-19 Hospitals/Isolation Centre with 5697 bed capacity, 7 already become functional

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Govt to open 34 COVID-19 Hospitals/Isolation Centre with 5697 bed capacity for treatment of COVID-19 patients of the State, 7 already become functional. This is informed by the Chief Spokesperson of Govt. of Odisha on COVID-19, Subroto Bagchi

Today Subroto Bagchi, Chief Spokesperson of Govt. of Odisha on COVID-19, Sri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Information & Public Relations Department and Dr. Krishan Kumar, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Works Department briefed the Press about steps taken by Government of Odisha for prevention of COVID-19.

 Today, Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri Naveen Patnaik has expressed his best wishes to all the Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, Midwives and ASHAs on the occasion of World Health Day.
 Odisha State Government has taken number of proactive steps to combat COVID-19. On the direction of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha Sri Naveen Patnaik, a dedicated COVID-19 Telemedicine Helpline-14410 is going to be launched to provide medical assistance to potential COVID-19 cases across the State. This is a completely free service and anyone who is suffering from COVID-19 symptoms-cough, fever, tiredness and difficulty in breathing etc. can call the helpline. In this regard Hon’ble Chief Minister has made an appeal to all the Doctors from Odisha, across the State and India to support the Government in this initiative. On his appeal more than 300 Doctors have already come forward to provide their services voluntarily in this fight against COVID-19 by registering themselves at www.bit.ly_IndiaTeleMed.
 34 COVID-19 Hospitals/ Isolation Centre with 5697 bed capacity has been planned for treatment of COVID-19 patients of the State. Out of these, 7 special COVID-19 Hospitals have already become functional.
 By an Order of State Government, the general public has been directed to cover their mouth and nose with any available form of mask while stepping out of house for any purpose. A handkerchief or any other piece of cloth in at least layers can also be used for the purpose. Government of Odisha has issued an order in this regard which shall take effect from 7AM of 9th April 2020. A draft advisory for use of cloth masks is also available in the official website of the Health & Family Welfare Department (health.odisha.gov.in).
 In order to strengthen Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation for effective supervision and management of COVID-19 Hotspots and Containment Zones, 6 Senior Officers have been deputed to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation. They have been entrusted with management and monitoring of civil security, supply of essential commodities and extensive sanitization in all COVID-19 Hotspots and Containment Zones under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation.
 Food and accommodation have been ensured through 1882 camps for around 56,926 ‘Guest Workers’. These workers are from various states of the country. Any complaint received through Shramik Sahayata Call Centre-18003456703 is being addressed promptly.
 Today, 3,25,683 destitute and helpless persons have been provided with food in 5268 Gram Panchayats. Similarly, in 108 ULBs 27,058 persons have been provided with food.
 From 6th April morning to 7th April morning, 245 no of cases have been registered by the Police in the state for violations of different regulations and guidelines related to COVID-19 of which 228 no. of cases for violation of lock down, 3 cases for violation of ‘Home Quarantine’ 5 cases for rumour mongering and 9 for other issues. 366 persons have been arrested for different violations by the Police.

Health Update
 Up to 12 noon today, 2210 samples have been tested. Number of Positive Cases stands 42. Two persons have already been cured and discharged from Hospital.
 One COVID-19 positive patient has died.
 Out of 38 positive cases, 34 from Bhubaneswar, 3 from Bhadrak and one each from Cuttack, Puri, Kalahandi, Jajpur and Kendrapara.
 86 persons are under Hospital Isolation today in different hospitals.
 As regards returnees from Tablighi Jamaat, 28 persons had come forward earlier. After the appeal of Hon’ble Chief Minister 42 more persons have come forward. Necessary follow up action is being done in all these cases.
