Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to make helmet wearing mandatory for pillion riders on two-wheelers. This was announced by the Chief Secretary AP Padhi.
The move comes after the increasing number of road mishaps in the state. He announced about the new regulations through video conferencing at the State Secretariat today. Pillion riders not wearing helmets will be fined.
Besides, police stations across the state will be given the power of MVI under which police officials of ASI rank or above can penalise the violators and cancel their driving licenses.
