Bhubaneswar: The State Government has accorded necessary permission for creation of 330 new posts of different categories in the Odisha police for establishment of 22 investigating units for crimes against women (IUCAW) in as many police districts of the State.
A unit would have an Additional SP, two DSPs, four Inspectors, four Sub-Inspectors and four Constables. These officers and staffs would work dedicatedly for the cause of women, according to Director General of Police (DGP) KB Singh. The districts to have such units are UPD Cuttack, Cuttack district, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Puri, Nayagarh, Khordha, Bhadrak, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Balangir, Subarnapur, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Sundargarh and Keonjhar districts. Creation of such units and manpower would certainly help minimise the crimes against women, added the DGP.
