Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced three mega projects under the Puri World Heritage City Project. Reviewing a meet at the Lok Seva Bhawan here on the development of the World Heritage Project in Puri, the Odisha CM gave nod to three more projects to be taken up by the state government to revamp the Pilgrim town.
CM Naveen Patnaik has announced ₹180 Cr Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre with pilgrim amenities. The centre, spread across 5 acres, will have parking space for 1,000 cars, meditation space, commercial space, multi modal hub & other amenities . As part of grand vision for Puri, ₹190 Cr Shree Setu Project will be developed to create a new link road connectivity from Puri Bypass to Jagannath Ballav Math Pilgrim Centre. The 1.5km long 60m wide will have a trumpet interchange with access control.
Government has announced ₹68 Cr multilevel car parking at Jail Road with commercial space. It will have space for 400 cars and 300 vending spaces for greater convenience of devotees coming to Puri.
Under the third project, a housing project worth Rs 95 crore has been approved for rehabilitation of the families displaced by eviction. Around 600 houses will be constructed for them within 1.5 km radius of the Shree Jagannath Temple here and the built-up area of each house will be 520 sq feet, the press note further added.
Minister for Housing and Urban Development Pratap Jena, Chief Secretary, Development Commissioner, Works Department Secretary, and Principal Secretaries and Secretaries of different departments were present in the review meeting.
