Bhubaneswar: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik launched Virtual Academy for Odia on Odia New Year day. Extended my warm wishes on Maha Visuba Sankranti and Odia New Year to all citizens during the Odia Naba Barsha celebrations and paid tribute to the great sons of the soil who have enriched our language and culture, bolstered Odia identity and brought glory to our state.
On this auspicious occasion, I was delighted to dedicate the Virtual Academy that will promote our language, literature and culture across the world. Our Odia is one of the finest classical languages of India with its origin dating back to 2500 years. Odia language has given many immortal works in literature to the world.
I was also happy to announce that we would provide permanent caste certificates to ST and SC students and those from Socially and Economically Backward Classes (SEBC) in their school from Class V. This would be our way paying homage to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on his birthday. This decision would alleviate major problems faced by the students in acquiring caste certificates. It would benefit more than 20 lakh students in the state.
I reminisced the glorious past of our state, the might of our kings like Kharabela, the valour of Paikas who shook the British, our rich art and culture, enterprise and trade when our merchants sailed to distant lands establishing ties and bringing prosperity for our people.
I called upon all citizens to join hands to protect and preserve Odia culture and pride and build a strong and prosperous state.
