Odisha cabinet approves maiden Electronics Policy

Bhubaneswar : A State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday approved 24 proposals, including Odisha Electronics Policy 2021 to attract electronics industries with incentives and make Odisha a manufacturing hub for electronic goods and services by 2026.

The Cabinet approved proposals for amending the State’s Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR) 2015 to incentivise new-age mega industries, for providing jobs for para-sportspersons like other sportspersons in Government and public sectors and regularisations of encroached Government land in favour of Government and Aided schools.

The Cabinet also approved construction of an in-stream barrage at Chata Masinaa on Lower Suktel river with an investment of Rs 117 crore targeted to be completed by two and a half years.

A proposal for the Parvati Giri Mega Lift Irrigation Scheme with a sanction of Rs 10,759 crore to irrigate 2,63,800 hectares of land was okayed.

Under the Mukhya Mantri Krushi Udyog Yojana, a special allocation of Rs 484 crore for five years to promote agri-entrepreneurs was also approved.

It was decided that the amended Shri Lingaraj Temple Ordinance would be sent for the Union Government’s approval.

To help stone artisans for easy availability of stone, an Odisha Artisan Grade Policy 2021 was approved. They would be providing stones through Utakalika easily and at lower prices.

The Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar would be upgraded as an Institute of Medical Services and Research Postgraduate Hospital, Trauma Centre with an estimate of Rs 2,235 crore and the lowest bidder L&T was given the sanction. Another proposal approved was to ensure piped water supply to rural and urban households in Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Baleswar, Gajapati, Knadhamal and Koraput districts was approved and the lowest bidders were awarded the projects.

Besides, two proposals from the RD Department under the Chief Minister Sadak Yojana since 2014-15 were approved to construct 350 new roads at Rs 182 crore in three years.

The Cabinet also approved Odisha Horticulture Service conditions, a Rs 15-crore bank guaranties for the Aska Sugar Factory, Odisha Civil Service Rules 1990-91, Odisha Fire Services Act, Odish Superior Judicial Services and Odisha Judicial Services Rules.
