Bhubaneswar: BJP leaders and workers stage demonstration in front of Raj Bhawan accusing State government of hijacking different central schemes including rural housing .
Party State spokesperson Golak Mohapatra, MLAs Bishnu Sethi, Prakash Soren and Mohan Majhi, MP Bisheshwar Tudu and leaders like Prakash Mishra, Prithviraj Harichandan and Bhrugu Buxipatra sat on the dharna, among others.
“The Union Government is providing houses under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana to reach its housing for all by 2022 target. Even as over 16 lakh houses have been constructed in Odisha under the Central scheme, the State Government is hoodwinking people by naming them as Biju Pucca Ghar,” alleged leaders.
After dharna, a 70-member delegation led by vice-president Sameer Mohanty met Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal and submitted a memorandum to him.
Alleging that no transparency is maintained in selection of beneficiaries for the four lakh houses sanctioned by the Centre as per the 2018 survey of the State Government, the saffron party said majority of the beneficiaries were selected on party basis instead of eligibility.
