Dubai: This year OSUAE celebrated the 6th Edition of Handishala of a scintillating saga of gastronomic culinary, catering the local cuisines from innumerable corners of Odisha bedecked and presented at one and only forum ‘’The Handisala’’.
The ‘Handisala’ embarked its sixth consecutive term celebrating at the ‘’Emirates English Speaking School’ on the 15th Feb 2019.
The biggest odia food event so far was marked by 30 varied food stalls participated by 30 dazzling families residing across UAE encompassing more than 50 assorted delicacies from North to south, east to west sections of traditional mouthwatering odisha dishes crafted by our own odia household chefs.
To commemorate the occasion and motivate the families a team of distinguished judges (Mr. Sabir Ali, Mr. Ashim Parida and Mr. Abhishek Panigrahi) with cookery contextual were invited to select the best three. They went over stall after stall trying out the delectable dishes endeavoring to fulfill the daunting task of discovering the best one, they shared both positive and constructive feedback While over 300 families embraced the event bestowing their love by hopping stall to stall relishing the delicacies, Odisha Samaj UAE expressed its gratitude and
thanked all the volunteers for their incessant hard work, coordination and selfless contribution to make it a grand success. Odisha Samaj UAE is also grateful to all the participants for all their support and love throughout the event.
The event was sensationalized by singing, dance, essay writing, painting and debate competition from kids of segmented age groups. The children amazed the crowd with their very own wide-ranging spectrum of individual performances.
While the entire UAE Odia fraternity was gearing up for this grand event, a very painful act of inhumanity perpetrated by terrorists on the previous day i.e. 14th Feb 2019 at ‘Pulwama’ befell. The devastating attack on the convoy of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday led to 42 Jawans of our very own CRPF being martyred.
Extremely pained, OSUAE condemned this heinous act and amidst of this event, a heartfelt tribute was bestowed by lighting candles, and observance of silent prayer with the Indian flag for few minutes to show our support and strength to the Martyr’s family. The barbaric attack was a crime against humanity and
OSUAE won’t forget the supreme sacrifices of these Jawans.
The ‘’Emirates English speaking School’’ was a magnificent venue for a gala extraordinaire. Who wouldn’t be happy around 300 beautiful odia families amidst a foreign nation, shining and beaming to the food / music and celebration? The
momentum and excitement was contagious for the entire odia community.
OSUAE would again like to thank the volunteers behind the scene for creating this magic. The odia people for coming in and making it a memorable one. OSUAE is proud for doing such a great job and shall continue to endeavor spreading its wings. It was a day to remember.
