North Odisha University Kendujhar campus lacks basic facilities: sparks students agitation

Report by Malay Mohapatra; Kendujhar: Already two years have passed since Kendujhar campus of North Odisha University was opened and students were admitted for different courses here. But the Education in this university has hampered due to lack of basic facilities for which there is discontentment among students. Earlier the students had gone on a strike to fulfil the demands and recently they have locked the university main gate till the basic facilities are made available in the campus. There is no good road connectivity to the campus, no library, no boys or girls common room, no hostel or security in the premises. The students have demanded an ATM counter, bank,Xerox facility, Canteen, Seminar hall, smart class room, more class room, parking, bus transport service, library, hostel, road, common room and overall appointments of required teaching staff for which studies have hampered in this university. The authorities had promised to provide the required infrastructure and staff to this campus but no steps has been taken so far, the students complained. Students Rasmiranjan Panda, Sandip Nair,Dwanita Mehta,Subham Jena,Biswajit Behera, Sitanshu Swain, Srimayee Pati, Manasi Dixit, Md Navim, Ranjan Barik, Priyanka Mahapatra and many others have submitted a memorandum to the District Collector, VC NOU, Higher Education minister, Chief Minister and local MP MLAs regarding their demands and hope for a solution to streamline Education in NOC kendujhar Campus.
