Bhubaneswar, 4th March 2019: Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar, the premier club of the city has once again taken the initiative and organised the unique event – Corporate Quiz. While there are many quiz competitions among the school and college students, no such event is otherwise organised in the state exclusively for the young and enterprising managers, leaders, teachers, professionals and entrepreneurs in the corporate and business sectors. Their vast knowledge and competitive zeal does not find an avenue for expression. The Rotary Bhubaneswar Corporate Quiz fills the gap and provides an excellent platform for them to interact and shine in this unique event.
This year’s event is the 7th in the series involving three person teams drawn from various diverse fields like manufacturing, software, marketing, educational institutes, MSMEs including start ups, service sectors etc. competing in a structured quiz competition for the championship. The competition serves dual purpose of providing young professionals the opportunity to sharpen their skills and their organisations improve their public image on the one hand, and the Rotary club benefit from the surplus money which shall be used for its various community service projects.
15 teams from equal number of organisations participated in the two-tier competition. Interestingly, Government of Odisha in its thrust towards encouraging entrepreneurship, sponsored teams from a few start ups to this event by even paying their entry fees. The first round was the elimination round involving written answers to the quiz master’s questions, from which the 6 best teams were short listed for the final round. Corporate knowledge, general knowledge, knowledge about the financial market and were all part of the quiz, which was conducted in a very lively manner by the well known Quiz master Mr. Gautam Bose from Kolkata. Audio round, visual round, time bound questions and buzzer round, were all part of the game.
In the end the team from Nalco emerged as the champions, winning the trophy and prize money of Rs. 30.000, while teams from IFFCO and STPI won the First and Second Runners up trophies and prize monies of Rs. 20,000 and 15,000 respectively.
