MCL’s 2nd COVID 19 Hospital at Talcher dedicated to people

Talcher: A 150-bed COVID19 Hospital set-up by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) at Talcher was dedicated to people on Monday by Chief Minister Mr Naveen Patnaik.
The formal inauguration of the facility was done by the Chief Minister with Hon’ble Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi and Hon’ble PNG & Steel Minister Mr Dharmendra Pradhan joining through video conferencing from New Delhi.
Mr B N Shukla, CMD, along with Functional Directors also joined through video conferencing from company HQs at Sambalpur.
After 500-bed COVID19 Hospital at Bhubaneswar, it will be second COVID facility readied by MCL in technical collaboration with IMS & SUM Hospital, Bhubaneswar.
COVID19 Hospitals, which has been set-up at MCL’d existing infrastructure of Mahanadi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research at NSCH Campus, Talcher, will have 150 bedded isolation wards, including a six-bed ICU facility, spread over in two-floors with a state-of-the-art laboratory being set-up on separate floor.
Besides funding of hospital, MCL will also provide free meals to the patients at COVID19 Hospital, Talcher.
Earlier, a tri-partite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for establishment of COVID19 Hospital was signed by Mr Monaj Mohanty, Collector, Angul, for Government of Odisha, Dr Pushparaj Samantsinghar, for SUM Hospital and Mr M G Brahmapurkar, General Manager (Jagannath Area) for MCL.
Being in forefront in the fight against COVID19, MCL has also prepared 54-bedded medical facility in Jharsuguda district of Odisha.
Sanitization operations through ‘fog canon’, fire tenders, tankers etc are being conducted by production areas MCL spread over in Sundergarh, Jharsuguda and Angul districts of state, besides distribution of facial masks and sanitisers among people in the peripheral localities.
MCL is distributing 3.7 lakh facial masks among people.
