Bhopal : Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while unveiling the bronze statue of Bharatmata at Shaurya Smarak of Bhopal on Independence Day, said that May Bharat Mata give us strength that Madhya Pradesh can give its strong contribution in building a magnificent, glorious and prosperous country. Shri Chouhan further stated that my resolution for installation of divine and magnificent statue of Bharat Mata in Shaurya Smarak, built in memory of the brave soldiers, who have sacrificed their lives for the country came true today.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that many people including Sarsanghchalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat, who came to pay tribute to the brave soldiers at Shaurya Samarak, often felt that there should be a statue of Bharat Mata. This dream came true today. He said that every individual, who comes to the Shaurya Smarak will imbue with feeling of patriotism after paying tribute to the brave sons and paying obeisance to Bharat Mata.
After paying tribute to the brave soldiers by laying wreath at Shaurya Smarak, the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Adhyatm Sushri Usha Thakur paid floral tribute to Bharat Mata. The Member of Parliament from Bhopal Sushri Pragya Thakur, Former Mayor Shri Alok Sharma, Smt. Sadhna Singh and Principal Secretary Culture, Tourism and Public Relations Shri Shivshekhar Shukla were also present on the occasion. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan honoured Shri Rajkumar Pandit, the sculptor of Bharat Mata statue with shawl and shriphal.
Ashok Chakra, National Song and National Anthem also engraved on pedestal
It is to be highlighted that the Shaurya Smarak, built in Bhopal on 13 acre area was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on October 14, 2016. On the occasion of the first anniversary of Smarak, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan took a resolution for installation of Bharat Mata statue. After inviting proposals from experts, architects, artisans, painters, architects and institutions etc. for the installation of the statue, the bronze statue of Bharat Mata (about 37 feet including pedestal) in Ashirvachan posture with the National flag, standing on lotus has been erected. Ashok Chakra, National Song and National Anthem have also been engraved on the pedestal of the statue. At the same time, general public is being acquainted with with gallantry tales of Indian Defense Forces like brief historical information concerning India Army, Air Force and Navy, photographs, photographs of arms and ammunitions, table top models, scale models, description of gallantry awards & medals besides publications and through short films. So far, the Shourya Smarak has been visited by over 26 lakh 50 thousand people.
Pays obeisance to Martyrs at Shaurya Stambh
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan before unveiling the statue of Bharat Mata, paid tribute to the Martyrs by laying wreath at Shaurya Stambh. The Minister for Culture Sushri Usha Thakur, Public Representatives and Officers were present on the occasion.
