Madhya Pradesh CM Announces Bonanzas for affected people of Sardar Sarovar submerged area

 

Bhopal : Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan today announced many bonanzas for people of Sardar Sarovar submerged area as per their expectations after face to face interaction with them. He called upon affected people that rehabilitation is responsibility of all. Such circumstances should be created that all work is done happily. The government is doing better job with kind approach. Next problem to emerge will be dealt with full sensitivity. He also called upon affected families not to pay heed to misleading publicity by opposition over efforts for rehabilitation and Sardar Sarovar project.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that Nisarpur town will be developed as ideal city. After submergence, bridges, roads and approach roads will be constructed on islands. Compensation will be given on farmers’ demand in the area where farming will not be possible. People of submerged area have got the special package, which will be provided to owners of acquired land at displacement. Families, whose less than 25 percent land is part of submerged area, will also be given benefit of the package. Calculation for the package will be made on the basis of land ratio. Land rights letter given at rehabilitated place will be registered. No registration fee will be charged. Compensation will be provided for irrigation line installed by farmers by conducting survey. Special package of Rs five lakh will be given for construction of house. This amount will be additional to Rs 80,000 given as contingency expenditure.

Shri Chouhan said that the government will work with vigour for providing basic facilities at rehabilitated place. Rehabilitation works will be better. All villages will be developed as ideal villages at relocated place. There will be no dearth of fund. Deadline is there and no work will be allowed to stop. All works will continue. Further problems emerged will be dealt immediately with sensitivity.

The Chief Minister said that package to the tune of Rs 600 crore was given for rehabilitation and Rs 5.62 lakh were to be given. The amount has now been increased to Rs 15 lakh. Rs 27 crore will be given for reconstruction of temples of government, endowment and society. More funds will be given if needed. Plots will be given on availability for community buildings to all communities. Survey will be conducted again for eligible families left in the previous survey. All sort of relief will be provided to eligible families. Gandhi Ji’s remains will be established as a memorial. The names will come afore in discrepancies for deciding eligibility, they will be covered in re-survey. He said that the villages which are at present, will be in better condition at rehabilitated place.

The Chief Minister told them that the first Prime Minister of the country late Pt Jawaharlal Nehru had laid foundation of the project on April 5, 1961. The Congress was in the power most of the time after it. Their governments did not do for change in the project. Although, Samvid government came to power, the then Jansangh ministers opposed the height. The project was put on hold. But, in the year 1985, the then Chief Minister late Shri Arjun Singh and Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Madhav Singh Solanki made former Prime Minister late Smt. Indira Gandhi to make arrangement of tribunal and execution of its decisions. Appealing people not to pay attention of misleading publicity, the chief minister said that the government has made efforts so that people live in comfort even in case of need of filling the dam. Efforts for rehabilitations are being made with this intention.
