Kolkata: Market leader in Odisha, Konark Cement, celebrated the State’s foundation day, Utkal Divas, along with Odias@Kolkata Welfare Association at Science City in Kolkata on Sunday. Over 1,000 Odia speaking people belonging to different sects who live in Kolkata participated in the event, titled Vande Utkala Janani, which showcased rich cultural heritage of Odisha.
Internationally acclaimed Odissi dancer Guru Giridhar Nayak, Chief Commissioner for Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax of WB Mr. Sushant Kumar Panda, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax Mr. Kumud Chandra Paricha Pattnaik, Director General of State Crime Records Bureau Mr. D P Tarania, and Mr. Indrajit Chatterji, Executive Director (Sales & Marketing), Dalmia Bharat Cement graced the occasion.
Eminent guests spoke about the strong relationship shared by Odias and Kolkata. They said, Kolkata has been the land of desire for aspiring Odias for a long time, while Kolkata has gained immensely from Odias who have made it to the top in various fields.

Cultural events in the evening included classical Odissi dance and other forms of folk dances from Odisha including the famous Paika dance, followed by culinary specialties of Odisha.
