Bhubaneswar: The newly-launched KALIA Scheme (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) is getting a huge attention from across the State with a promise to transform the economic development of the people associated with the agriculture sector. Now, the State Government is planning to roll out campaign vans named “KALIA RATH’’ for more intense propagation of the scheme among the rural farmers by touching every gram panchayat, across Odisha.
The “KALIA RATH’’ during its sojourn through the State, will include events like cultural shows by local troupes with programmes on KALIA Scheme, audio-visual display, distribution of IEC materials (information, education and communication), activities like quizzes on KALIA Scheme and felicitation of local farmers.
While the Department of Co-operation has been entrusted by the State Government to popularize KALIA Scheme through Krushak Sampark Abhiyan, in order to reach out to all the farmers, KALIA RATH campaign will be undertaken by Odisha State Agriculture Marketing (OSAM) Board.
However, various government schemes under Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Co-operation, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development and Panchayatiraj including KALIA are being projected with an integrated approach in order to ensure benefits to rural populace as farmers constitute a major chunk of our rural mass.
As per the plan, OSAM Board will intimate each district administration in advance regarding the visit of the “KALIA RATH’’ to the district so that the district administration can make a block-wise route map for the “KALIA RATH’’ to tour the entire district.
Once the route maps are finalized the block-level nodal officers will ensure at least three programmes in a gram panchayat . The gram panchayat nodal officers (GPNOs) and KALIA Volunteers will coordinate and monitor the events.
