Bhubaneswar: Working hard with zeal to free government land for road, drain and open space for public use, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) under the programmes of Central Enforcement Monitoring Committee (CEMC) freeing land for betterment of the city and citizens. Today in Niladrivihar a road under encroachment was made free and opened for the public again.
The joint squad of BDA, BMC and Commissionerate Police removed illegal encroachment and construction by more than 15 nearby plot owners in Sector-III Niladrivihar under CS Pur revenue Mouza of the city.
As per the CEMC eviction programme, the joint enforcement team reached the spot around 10.30 am and continued till 2.30 pm in the afternoon. The encroached road was part of the Chandrasekhar Pur Housing Scheme, Phase-II.
The requisition for eviction was made by Zonal Deputy Commissioner (North Zone) of BMC on July 2, this year. During the eviction drive eight tin shed houses, three concrete asbestos houses, and two tin shed garage and a boundary wall of 180 feet were removed.
Near about 1,000 square feet government road and government land of 5,500 square feet was made free from encroachment through this action. Two excavators, one from BDA and one from BMC were engaged during the eviction drive.
Among others, Enforcement Officer-II, BDA, Sri Pramod Kumar Patro, Inspector-in-charge CS Pur Police Station Deepak Kumar Mishra, BDA Liaison Officer Subhransu Sekhar Mohanty were present. One platoon of gents APR force and one section of lady police force were present at site to maintain law and order during the demolition drive. Four enforcement squads of BDA and two from BMC were deployed.
