Chandipur : India on Monday successfully test-fired the supersonic cruise missile BrahMos from the test range at Chandipur here off the Odisha coast at around 10.15 am aiming to achieve the weapon’s life extension.
The mission achieved all its parameters, said the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
The test-firing was aimed at increasing the missile’s life from 10 to 15 years. The BrahMos has a flight range of up to 290 km with supersonic speed all through the flight, leading to shorter flight time, consequently ensuring lower dispersion of targets, quicker engagement time and non-interception by any known weapon system in the world.
