Dhenkanal: On the occasion of Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018, the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Dhenkanal on Thursday launched a monograph on field hockey in order to celebrate the spirit of the game. Senior journalist and Consulting Editor of DB Post, Angshuman Bonnerjee, launched this here in the campus in presence of students and faculty members.
Conceptualised by Institute’s Director Professor Mrinal Chatterjee, the monograph contains detailed information about various aspects of the game, its history, rules, profiles of legendary players, national and international management bodies, tournaments and India’s tryst with the game. It also highlights how Odisha has emerged as a hockey powerhouse. Hrushikesh Mishra, faculty member of the Institute, has developed the content while Academic Coordinator Jitendra Pati has contributed the layout. A team of students also assisted the faculties in production of the monograph.
“At a time when Odisha has grabbed attention of the whole world as the host of this grand event, we decided to contribute in our own unique way to celebrate the sprit of the game. This material will give a 360 degree view about the world of hockey and introduce the readers towards the technical, socio-political as well as asthetic sides of the game. Sports enthusiasts and Sports journalists of the country will get to know quite a lot about the great game from this,” said Professor Chatterjee at the event.
The premier media Institute has been producing books and monographs with an aim of providing quality study materials to the budding journalists. ‘Hockey’ was the 17th monograph produced by the Institute. Earlier, the Institute has produced monographs on ‘Photo Journalism’, ‘Entertainment Journalism’, ‘Women in Journalism’, ‘Sports Journamism’ etc.
