Report by Nishapati Nayak; Koraput: Creating history, for the first time in eight years of its establishment of the Central University of Orissa, Koraput on 2009, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) peer team visited the University from 7 September to 10 September 2017. The NAAC peer team consisted of four (04) members headed by renowned academician and former Director of NAAC and former Vice-Chancellor of the NEHU and Mizoram University, Prof. A. N. Rai. Other members were Prof. V. Rhymend Uthariaraj, Professor of computer Science, Anna University, Chennai; Pro. R. K. Trivedi, Professor of Geology, Dr. Hari Sing Gaur University, Sagar; Prof. P. K. Srivastav, Professor of Ancient History, BHU. The three day visit of the NAAC peer team concluded with the exit meeting here today at the main campus of the University at Sunabeda.
Prof. Rai, Chairman, NAAC peer team thanked the University community for cooperation in their assessment and suggests the University community to work hard to take the University in to a higher level in the country. He said that the University was lucky to have a dynamic and pro active Vice-Chancellor in the form of Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty. He presented a copy of the confidential Report to the Vice-Chancellor.
In the exit meeting of the NAAC peer team today Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, VC CUO thanked the Chairman of the NAAC peer team and its members for their visit and valuable suggestion. He said “Since its inception this is the first time the CUO has been assess by NAAC for accreditation”. He assured to implement the suggestion given by the NAAC peer team for the growth of the University. He also thanked the NAAC steering committee of the University for organizing the visit successfully and thanked all the students, faculties and staff of the University along with the District administration and all the stake holders of the University.
The NAAC peer team had started their assessment with the presentation of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor on 7.9.1`7. Prof. Mohanty presented the progress and achievements of the University. He presented the various challenges the University encountering in present scenario. He also put forward the future plan of the University and the mission and vision of its establishment. All the 14 department of the University has presented themselves their activities. The NAAC team had visited all the concerned departments and assesses the facility provided to the students and faculties. They also visited the places of common facilities provided by the University like Hostels, Library, Computer centers, Health center, Canteen, NAAC office room, ICC center and University Park. The team had also visited the Centre for Tribal Welfare and Community Development of the University at Koraput and the 5 adopted villages of the University at Sunabeda.
In the Exit Meeting Dr. Sarat Kumar Palita, Chairman NAAC steering committee thanked the NAAC pee team. Dr. Jayant Nayank, Co-ordinator, NAAC team proposed vote of thanks. Members of University community were present on this occasion in large numbers.
