Rayagada: A district level review meeting to prevent and prohibit the child marriage as well as empowerment of adolescents in Rayagada district held by the chairmanship of District Collector and District Nodal Officer for Prohibition of Child Marriage Sri Pramod Ku Behera. The review meeting was organised jointly by District Administration, Action Aid Association and UNICEF, Odisha office. The work plan focused to create awareness, rescue and rehabilitation mechanisms for children to prevent child labour and child marriage issues. Drop out and irregular schooling are leading for children to become child labour and supporting child marriage situation. So, the work plan addressed on escort fees for the children coming from more than 1 KM and 3 KMs for Primary and Upper Primary schooling.
In this meeting child protection mechanism, social security, child health institutions, child education and child marriage are main agendas for discussion. No child should be out of school and ensuring protections for children and adolescents both at household, community and institution level may ensure safe childhood.
Departments like DLSA, police, education, skill development, social security, health, sports and youth services, SC and ST development, Women & Child Development and Mission Shakti took the responsibilities to create awareness at community level so that every person can have the knowledge on bad impact and insecurity of child labour and child marriage.
It is also decided that, the age bar should not limited to 18 years in case of girl and 21 years in case of boy, if they are interested to involve themselves in skill development or higher education they should be promoted and they should decide their age of marriage so that an economic sound environment be established. For this community and society should encourage the adolescents and youth masses.

Superintendent Of Police, Rayagada, Purna Chandra Bariha, District Education Officer, Nanda Lal District Welfare Officer, B.K.Pradhan, District Information &Public Relation Officer, District Culture Officer, District Sports Officer, All CDPOs cum CMPOs of Rayagada District, Raja Kishor Sahu, Chairperson, CWC, Rayagada, Protection Officer, Smt. Nilendri Sahu, District Coordinator, Biju Yuba Vahini, Rayagada, representatives from Childline and team members of Action Aid Association and UNICEF, Odisha office joined in this meeting.
Sri Ramesh Ch Nayak, DCPO welcome to all the participants and shared the purpose of this meeting and presented the progress done by convergence of all line departments, Sri Priyabrat Satapathy, M&E Manager, Action Aid discussed about the Child Marriage Prohibition Rule-2019, The meeting was ended with vote of thanks from Ratneswar Sahu, District Coordinator of Action Aid.
