Bhubaneswar: Lt. Gen. Tarun Kumar Aich, AVSM, Director General, NCC called on Governor today at Raj Bhavan.
He apprised His Excellency about recent initiatives being taken by NCC to ensure better training including the introduction of simulators, powered aircraft VIRUS sanction from Army, Navy, Air force and the CAPF, for use of training facilities. DG also informed HE the Governor that Odisha Dte took active part in the NCC coastal expansion drive initiated by honourable PM and fully subscribed to the vacancies allotted to it in a record time. The DG also briefed the Governor about introduction of NCC as a General Elective Credit Course under the Choice Based Credit System in all Universities and Colleges in alignment with the NEP 2020.
He also appreciated the efforts made by the state govt. for the furtherance of NCC activities in the state.
The Governor complimented the Director General of NCC for the active contribution of NCC cadets during the times of disaster especially during the ongoing COVID 19. Odisha. NCC has also been active in spreading social awareness on issues such as Beti Bacho-Beti Padhao, Clean India- Green India, Save Girl Child, maintenance and upkeep of Statues of National Heroes (one unit, one statue), Anti Drug and Tobacco, Road Safety and Discipline, Plastic Waste Management to name a few. He was confident that a well groomed and trained NCC cadet will be a responsible citizen, and contribute immensely to the larger goal of nation building.
