Commercial Poultry farming Training Programme inaugurated at KVK Khordha, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A three days capacity building training programme on “Commercial poultry farming” was organized by KrishiVigyan Kendra-Khordha,ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar from 11th-13thJanuary, 2022. Dr.Saroj Kumar Swain, Director, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar graced this occasion as Chief guest. In his inaugural address he highlighted the importance and scope of commercial poultry farming for income generation and nutrition security of the farming community. Earlier, Dr. Harapriya Nayak (SMS, Home Science) welcomed the delegates. Dr. P. Das, Principal scientist, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar encouraged the trainees to adopt the technology of commercial poultry farming with new commercial layer strains with traits of highegg production and high feed conversion efficiency for high profitability.Mr. A.K. Dash, Senior Scientist & Head (I/c), KVK, Khordha emphasized the significance of the training programme and transfer of various technologies pertaining to agriculture and allied activities by KVK Khordha for up-liftment of the socio-economic status of the farming community of Khordha district. During the training programme the trainees will be imparted knowledge on benefits of commercial poultry farming, feeding management of broiler and layer poultry birds, bio security, sanitation and chick management, environmentally controlled poultry farming, diseases of poultry and their management, Govt. schemes for poultry farming and role of APICOL in implementation of the scheme. A total of 40 farmers/ farm women from Pratishruti NGO, Jatni Block and Sambalit FPO of Balipatna Block of Khordha district participated in the training programme. Mr. Surendra Singh (SMS, Crop Production) proposed vote of thanks. The programme was coordinated by Dr. B.K. Banja (CTO, Animal Science), Mr. Surendra Singh (SMS, Crop Production) and Dr. HarapriyaNayak (SMS, Home Science) of KVK, Khordha maintaining Covid-19 protocols.
