Centre released additional assistance of Rs 2,325.58 crore to Odisha to undertake restoration work in Cyclone Fani-affected districts

Bhubaneswar: The Union Government has released an additional assistance of Rs 2,325.58 crore to the State Government to undertake rehabilitation and restoration work in Cyclone Fani-affected districts.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi said the State Government treasury received the money, which was released on Friday. Earlier in May, the State had received an advance of Rs 1,000 crore for this purpose. So, the State Government has so far received Rs 3,325.58 crore on this count. Notably, an amount of Rs 340.87 crore had been released from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) in advance on April 29 on the eve of the cyclone.

In addition, an ex-gratia sum of Rs 2 lakh was provided to the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 to each seriously injured from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
