Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) would implement a Digital Door Numbering (DDN) system in the city soon.
The DDN system would be adopted to facilitate smart numbering and easy identification and to avoid missing of holdings.
In this connection, an agreement has been signed between the BMC as the first party and service providing agencies Navayuga Spatial Technologies Pvt Ltd and Zipper Pvt Ltd as the second party.
Every household in the entire city would be given an alphanumeric number. This is the firsthand identification to locate, identify and track the houses. Even, it would be easy to find the house of a particular location. Un-assessed houses can be put to assessment through this technology.
In order to prepare citizens to adopt a smart system, this uniform geo tagging system of numbering is a user-friendly approach in growing cities like Bhubaneswar, said BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Choudhary.
The process would start within 15 days and take about 150 days for establishing the survey by the agencies. There would be a proper documentation of the entire process, said Deputy Commissioner, Revenue Srimanta Mishra. The system would cover all 67 wards. In case of the slum areas, there might be some deviations and alternatives.
An amount of Rs 3.97 crore would be spent in this numbering system along with operation and maintenance. The contract has been made for one year.
