Koraput: Central University of Orissa, Koraput organized second meet of it’s Poetry Club at the main campus, Sunabeda today. Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, Hon’ble Vice-chancellor inaugurated and presided over the programme. Renowned poets of the region Sri Ameya Bikram Nandan Bhuiyan, Ms. Swati Chatterjee and Ms. Meena Swain were present. On this occasion a book of poems titled To Evelyn, written by Sidharth Goautam Joshi,a student of M.A. English, was launched by Professor Mohanty.
Prof. Mohanty congratulated the ‘Poetry Club’ for successfully organizing the event and congratulated Sh. Sidharth Gautam Joshi of his book. He emphasized upon the creative endeavor of the students and faculties of different departments who recited their poems and the poems of established poets in Odia, English, Hindi and Sanskrit. He said “Poetry is the means of psychic survival and the Poetry Club of the Universeity would be entirely committed to the inward flow of the poetic urge”. He also recited the poem Pratighat, a creation of Bidyutprabha Devi, the well-acclaimed poet of Odia literature.
The objectives of the CUO Poetry Club as outlined by him are to reinvigorate a sense of poetic ecstasy in the young hearts and to foster creativity among the youth.
Dr. Satabdi Behera, a lecturer in the Department of Hindi introduced the guest and Sri Sanjeet Kumar Das, Assistant Professor, Department of English as well as secretary of the CUO Poetry Club delivered the welcome address. Dr. Rudrani Mohanty, lecturer in the Department of Odia delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was compeered by Sabeha Bano, and Barsha Panda, students of the Department of English and the Department of Hindi respectively. On this occasion students, faculties and staff of the University were present in large number.
