Bhubaneswar : IIT Bhubaneswar has a vision to attain global reputation for generating outstanding graduates and research output and has been working towards achieving this goal through its innovative and spirited implantation of highest standards of excellence academic and research culture in all fronts including wellness environment and creating state-of-art infrastructure. In this endeavor, amongst various other measures, the Institute is on course of hiring faculty well trained from the reputed Institutions globally through a spirited programs. In this pursuit, the Director Prof. R V Raja Kumar along with some of the Deans of the Institute [Prof. Saroj Nayak, (Dean -Faculty), Prof. Sujit Roy (Dean – Research & Development), Dr. Pravas Sahu (Dean – Academics), Prof. R. K. Panda (Dean – Alumni Affairs) and Prof. V. R. Pedireddi (Dean – Student Affairs)] visited Singapore during 6th – 11th November, 2019, to establish connectively with the well reputed Institutions in Singapore. The delegation visited two Globally famous and well recognized with highest ranking – Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and National University of Singapore (NUS) and also highly acclaimed research Institutions under A*STAR, to study the faculty hiring and recruitment processes, basic infrastructure, teaching programs, research environment prevail in those Institution.
The delegation was received at NTU with a warm reception and the Director Prof. R V Raja Kumar had a meeting with Prof. Subra Suresh, President, NTU to discuss and establish highly interactive relations between the two Institutions. Also, the delegation had broad discussions with Associate Vice President (Strategy & Partnerships), Prof. Subhodh Mhaisalkar and NTU-India connect Global Director, Prof. B. V. R. Chowdhury at length to establish long term coordination in the areas of education and research. Further, at both NTU and NUS, the Director of IIT Bhubaneswar made presentations on the prospects of faculty recruitment and the growth factors at the Institution to a large number of students pursuing Ph. D. and Postdoctoral career that would give an opportunity to the prospectus candidates to begin career at IIT Bhubaneswar to have their signature in their respective future career growth. Apart from it, the delegation visited various research laboratories, for example, Microelectronics, 3D-printing Facility, School of Computing, Departments of Electrical and Civil engineering and Department of Chemistry etc.
The delegation also had an interactive meeting with IIT-Singapore Alumni Association, which incidentally celebrated Diwali on 9th November, 2019, that was graced by Mr. Ninad S. Deshpande, the Deputy High Commissioner at Indian High Commission, Singapore as Chief Guest and Director, IIT Bhubaneswar as Guest of Honour.
The delegation also met Scientists at A*STAR and Institution of High Performance Computing for a possible long term collaboration was discussed and chalked out strategical planning to establish immediately joint project submissions to enable faculty and student exchange.
The visit was highly successful with highly appreciable comments of the Host Institutions for the tremendous growth taken a place at IIT Bhubaneswar within a span of a decade.
