Vedanta organised an awareness camp on sanitation & personal hygiene in Odisha

Report by Odisha Diary bureau, Jharsuguda: Vedanta Limited,Jharsuguda in partnership with Subhalaxmi Cooperative & District RWSS department, Jharsuguda conducted a joint awareness campaign to promote the usage of sanitation facilities, educating the community to adopt proper personal hygiene at Banjari Village on 14th Sept.
The inaugural campaign was launched with an objective to create awarness amoung villagers on the benefits of using hygienic sanitation facilities for maintaining a healthy and dignified life. Dr. Mrutyurnjaya Tarai from Mobile Heath Unit services of Vedanta also imparted information on personal hygiene and risk of associated deadly diseases related to sanitation and personal hygiene. To reinforce the awareness level and have an effective communication a street play named “AMA GAON” was performed for over 150 villagers including women, beneficiaries, school children and community members  who participated in this camp. To test the awareness level of the target community, quiz competitions were conducted and prizes were distributed to the winners.
Mrs. Tripuramohini Satpathy and Mr. Pramod Bagarti, Jharsuguda RWSS Department, Mr. Satyanarayan Dash , CEO, Subhalaxmi Cooperative , Mrs. Puspanjali Seth, President, Subhalaxmi Cooperative, Mr.Nishant Kumar,Head CSR, Vedanta Limited attented the session and interacted with community members regarding variuos aspects of sanitation.
Vedanta under its CSR initiatives is a pioneer in the construction of individual household toilets (IHL) in Banjari village, partnering Subhalaxmi Cooperative and District RWSS Department with an objective to make Banjari village an open defecation free village, in alignment with Government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
