Jharsuguda : Employees of Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda lent support to the Pulse Polio Immunization program conducted by National Health Mission and District Health Department from 10th – 12th March. Led by the company’s CSR Dept. and Employee Volunteerism Program (EVP) representatives, 70 employees worked with the organizing bodies, Wockhardt Foundation, Anganwadi and ASHA workers in 14 peripheral villages, Jharsuguda Railway Station, Bus Stand and Vedanta Township, helping immunize more than 2178 children and sensitize over 10,000 people during the course of the camp.
Speaking on the drive, Mr. Abhijit Pati, CEO – Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda said, “It is heartening to see our employees contribute to Pulse Polio immunization drive through Employee Volunteering Program (EVP), which is a structured step towards strengthening the company’s bond with the community, where employees contribute to social good. We firmly believe EVP will create more avenues for collaborative growth where the company and the community partner in progress of the region, state and nation.”
Ms. Anita Sahoo, Sarpanch – Katikela Gram Panchayat said, “We are very happy to see the efforts of Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda towards Pulse Polio Immunization program in our villages. It was great to see Vedanta employee volunteers reach our door step and ensure polio immunization of children. The volunteers did a wonderful assisting Anganwadi and ASHA workers and we are highly grateful to Vedanta for their support in making the Pulse Polio drive a success”.
The three-day Pulse Polio Immunization program was first in the series of employee volunteering programs designed by Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda’s PR and CSR departments to create avenues for employees to contribute to the social good in meaningful and effective ways. More such programs have been planned by the EVP team in the upcoming months. The company firmly believes in contributing to the socioeconomic welfare of the community and EVP is a strong step in that direction.
