Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan urges Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik to allot land for Textile Park in Bhadrak

Bhubaneswar: Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday said Bhadrak can be the Surat of Eastern India if the Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s (IOCL) proposed Textile Park comes up in time there.

Pradhan said this after writing a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urging him to allot the required land for the IOCL’s project in Bhadrak.

The Rs  1,971-crore project is to come up in 75 acres of land at Bhadrak and this investment would spur more investment to the tune of Rs  2,500 crore and create job opportunities for many, Pradhan said.

He said an MoU was signed between the IOCL and the State Government in the presence of finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera and Women & Child Development Minister Prafulla Samal way back on November 16, 2017. The IOCL has written several times to the State Government requesting for land for the project but to no avail, for which project implementation is getting delayed.

“It is rather unfortunate and discouraging that the Odisha Government has not allotted the required land yet for the project,” Pradhan rued in the letter. Earlier, 35 acres of land was sought and later looking at the requirement, a plea was made for a patch of 75 acres, said he.
