Bhubaneswar: Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship took a special preparatory meeting with officials from various CPSEs, Banks and Institutions on the holding of “SC-ST Conclave – 2018” on 30th August, 2018. The meeting was attended by representatives from NTPC, NALCO, NSIC, MCL, Paradeep Port Trust, SBI and various other CPSEs and Banks. In the meeting deliberations were also held w.r.t. the various coinciding events to take place on 30th August, 2018 at NSIC complex, Mancheswar Industrial Estate, Bhubaneswar.
Welcoming the participants, the Hon’ble Minister expressed that all the stake holders must play their role for the success of the SC-ST Conclave. He expressed that all like CPSEs and Banks must effectively engage in confidence building of the SC-ST populace which will facilitate in improving the involvement of members from SC-ST community in the various development programmes of Govt of India.
The Hon’ble Minister urged all CPSEs and Banks to give mass publicity of the SC-ST Conclave to be held on 30th August, 2018 through posters and hoardings at different strategic outlets / windows in their organizations. The Minister also desired that each organization must also engage with the SC-ST members of their staff informing them of the Central Government initiative for the members SC-ST community. The Minister called upon the CPSEs and Banks to exhibit the products and services procured by them and also make a presentation of their procurement procedure, by putting up stalls in the exhibition during the Conclave.
The Hon’ble Minister emphasized that the deliberations during initiatives like the SC-ST Conclave would go a long way in promoting procurements through SC-ST Entrepreneurs and also facilitate in creating of new enterprises – both enabling a major change in the social fabric of the State.
Earlier, Shri Ravindra Nath, CMD NSIC gave an overall view of various events to take place on 30th August 2018 such as National SC-ST Conclave, Inauguration of NSIC Building at Mancheswar Industrial Area, setting up of NSIC’s Apparel Training Centre (Textile Sector), Exhibition of SC-ST Entrepreneurs, Inauguration of National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) at NSIC complex and various other initiatives of the Ministry of Petroleum.
Shri Nath briefed the participants about the efforts made by the Central Govt. in promoting the Entrepreneurs / prospective Entrepreneurs from SC-ST community linking them with the CPSEs under the public procurement programme as well as exposing them to various initiatives of Banks and other Financial Institutions such as Mudra, Startup India, Standup India, PMEGP, training and capacity building through various programmes designed for participants from SC-ST community etc.
Shri Nath sought support of all CPSEs and Banks for participating in the 30th August programme.
