New Delhi: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reviewed progress and future prospects of civil aviation in Odisha, including regional connectivity under the UDAN scheme. Minister Pradhan had discussion with Chairman Airports Authority Of India ( AAI ) CMD Air India and Joint Secretary, Civil Aviation Of India, on progress and future prospects of civil aviation in Odisha, including regional connectivity under the UDAN scheme.
He reviewed connectivity and modernization of Terminals 1 & 2 at Bhubaneswar Airport and commissioning of a new Terminal 3 in view of high projected demand for the future. Explored development of a 2nd airport at Bhubaneswar to match rapid growth of passenger traffic, growing at 26% annually. He mooted connectivity from key cities in Odisha to Surat, Pune, Varanasi, Raipur, Visakhapatnam and Ranchi. Civil Aviation will be a key driver of economic development of Odisha and catalyze growth in ancillary industries like Logistics, Hospitality, Tourism, etc.
