Bhubaneswar: To celebrate World Tourism Day, a photography contest was hosted by Bhubaneswar-based tour facilitator Trip 4 Fun. The theme of the contest was ‘Odisha’ where shutterbugs were asked to showcase the state through their lens.
Over 100 entries were received from people of diverse age groups and backgrounds. The photographs were related to various tourism sites of the state. A few entries were also received on the festivals, culture and heritage of the state. The contest began on September 12 and concluded on September 25 following which the winner was announced today.
Dhirendra Singh Rajpurohit was selected as the winner. He is a mechanical engineer, avid traveler and a passionate shutterbug.
The winning entry was a picture of the Padmasambhava Mahavihara Monastery located at Jiranga, Gajapati district of Odisha. Noted for the Budhist temple, the highest in the South Asia, a huge image of Dhyani-Budha is enshrined inside the temple flanked by Padmapada and Manjushree.
