Lanjigarh: A three-days fest for children “Carnival 2019” organized by DAV Vedanta International School from 14th November concluded today at Lanjigarh. The programme started with a ‘Fit India movement’ rally wherein all the students and teachers took part to support the movement. The celebration involved the participation of over 1100 children of the school. Scintillating performances by the students in dance, singing and skits left the audience mesmerized. In order to promote and recognize young scientists at school level, a science exhibition was organized wherein participating students demonstrated various models on topics pertaining to science, mathematics and arts. During the programme, a blood donation camp was also organized by the school management in partnership with Vedanta Hospital and District Red Cross Society, Kalahandi; in which parents, local youth and other volunteers donated blood for the needy.
Mr. Rakesh Mohan, Chief Operating Officer, Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh and the Chairman of School Management Committee reiterated the commitment of Vedanta towards the development of the region as he urged everyone to support the collective initiatives by the company and the communities.
It is noteworthy that Vedanta has been implementing various community development projects for children which include 36 child care centres, English medium school – DAV Vedanta International School and support for high school students through Project Shiksha Sambal.
The programme was anchored by Mrs. Shukla Chakraborty, Principal – DAV Vedanta International School, Lanjigarh. On 14th November, Vedanta’s aluminium unit at Lanjigarh had observed Children’s day with the children of child care centre and primary school at Niyamgiri Vedanta Nagar.
