Tata Steel has been constantly innovating and pioneering people practices in the realms of hiring, engagement, diversity & inclusion, rewards & recognition and performance management. In keeping with the changing times, the Company has introduced several path breaking policies, practices and initiatives for various segments of the workforce like 5-day workweek, menstrual leave, paternity leave, adoption leave, satellite office operation, employee assistance programme (tilted UMANG) and Take 2 (to provide a platform to the partners of the Tata Steel employees and women professionals who are on career break) to name a few. As an equal opportunity employer, Tata Steel has ensured fair representation of people from the under privileged sections of the society. The Company’s Diversity & Inclusion Programme ‘MOSAIC’ is enabling diversity of gender, hiring & inclusion of PwDs (Persons with Disability), inclusion of LGBT and more.
Employees are Tata Steel’s most important asset and prioritising their needs and ensuring their well-being is integral to the Company’s sustainable future. Last year in month of September, the Company had flagged off its new brand campaign under the theme of ‘We Also Make Tomorrow’ to showcase its pioneering work in the areas of innovation, technology and sustainability.

The Golden Peacock Awards, instituted by the Institute of Directors (IOD), is regarded globally as a benchmark of Corporate Excellence. The Golden Peacock HR Excellence Award, introduced in 2011, is a major recognition framework to mark successes and accomplishments for the HR fraternity in India. It recognises leading organisations and practitioners in the drive for impactful human capital strategies. The Golden Peacock Awards Secretariat invites applications from the Indian manufacturing and service organisations. The applications are shortlisted for final selection through a 3-tier assessment. This year, 134 applications were shortlisted from an initial count of 338 responses. The final selection process is administered by an exhaustive set of self-assessment parameters. The applicant scoring the highest, among each of the respective Industrial Sectors, is finally recommended to the Jury for the final selection.
