Jamshedpur: Tata Steel Sports Department organised a function to felicitate participants of the Fitness Camp for ladies at JRD Tata Sports Complex on Thursday.
The Fitness Camp for ladies was organised between September 1 to October 10, 2018 at JRD Tata Sports Complex. A total of 11 ladies attended the camp and they have been actively participating in fitness activities since then.
During the camp, emphasis was given on the development of endurance, strength , agility , speed, flexibility & mobility. Two tests were conducted to judge the fitness of the participants. All the participants showed tremendous improvement in course of the programme. The monitoring was done with regard to weight, blood pressure, sugar levels and overall flexibility.
At the prize distribution function on February 28th, those present included Mr Ashish Kumar, Head Sports Tata Steel and Mr N K Jha, Union Committee Member who graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. Also present were Saroj Lakra, former international athlete and Dronacharya Awardee archer Ms Purnima Mahto.
This was a new initiative taken by the Sports Department of Tata Steel. The idea was to engage the Mothers of Training Centre Cadets and make them aware of a healthy lifestyle and the advantages of being fit.
This was a pilot project taken up by the Tata Steel Sports Department which is now receiving requests for various such programmes.
