Jamshedpur: Tata Steel paid homage to Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy (JRD) Tata on the occasion of his 113th birth anniversary today. Various events were held at different locations to commemorate the day.
As a mark of tribute, a short film on JRD Tata’s life and his passion for flying, showcasing the philosophy of the pioneering industrialist, was screened at Sonari Airport by Tata Steel’s Aviation department. The special programme also included an aero-modelling show and static display of aircraft. Jolly Bhaskaran, the event chief guest, paid homage to the legend.
The sports department of Tata Steel organised a cross country race today for Jogga school children, Jusco and Project schools. Around 2,000 children participated in the event. Earlier, an under-12 and under-14 football tournament had been organised on July 26, 2017, at Armoury Ground. An inter JDC doubles badminton tournament for the women employees of Tata Steel was also organised on July 28, 2017, at JRD Tata Sports Complex. A Road Safety Quiz and Pick and Run Competition were organised for the school van drivers of Jamshedpur on July 28, 2017, at JRD Tata Sports Complex.
Participation details for today’s cross country race are as follows:
Project School: 407 participants from 11 schools
Jogga School: 818 participants from 30 schools
Jamshedpur Open Bouldering Championship was organized today at the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation, which witnessed the participation of 130 children.
A Sit & Draw competition was organised yesterday at the school premises for students with special needs to commemorate JRD Tata’s birth anniversary. This has now become a yearly event and the art teachers of the Jamshedpur School of Art are requested to judge this competition. The event has proved to be a great motivator for the students.
