Bhubaneswar: Under Vande Bharat Mission-4, a 2nd flight from Bahrain for stranded Odia diaspora through Air India is scheduled on 11th July 2020. This has bought a sigh of relief for many Odia who could not board the earlier flight for various reasons on 20th June, which evacuated 145 Odia from the island nation.
In the meanwhile, Bahrain Odia Samaj has been extending all possible help to its diaspora, such as widely disseminating information about the flight, guiding interested people to register themselves for repatriation and helping people to obtain tickets. This is in addition to other humanitarian activities that the Samaj has taken since the outbreak of Corona pandemic in mid-February and this includes distribution of ration to those in need.
As observed in other parts of the world, the Corona pandemic has led to economic misery and many people have lost their source of livelihood. Such people were in dire need of immediate repatriation and this flight arrangement has come at the most opportune time, said Bahrain Odia Samaj’s President Tapan Mishra. We shall continue with our humanitarian work, he added.
Scheduling the second flight within 3 weeks from the first repatriation flight has really helped the Odia diaspora who were interested to return back, but were left out earlier for some reasons, said General Secretary Susmita Rout.
Members of the Bahrain Odia Samaj have expressed deep sense of gratitude to Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Steel, Dr. S. Jaishankar, Hon’ble Minister of External Affairs, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Minister of Civil Aviation and to Shri. Norbu Negi, Second Secretary, Indian Embassy in Bahrain for ensuring safe return of its people.
