Bhubaneswar: Tata Crucible Campus Quiz is back to challenge the masterminds across the country. In its 13th edition this year, the quiz will cover 38 cities across India. At the Bhubaneswar regional round of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2017 held today, Rohit Mohanty and Amit Mohanty from Xavier Institute of Management defeated 82 number of teams emerging as the winning team and they will now compete with 7 other teams in the Zonal Finals to be held at Kolkata. The runners up position was bagged by Sameer Sekhar Patra and Adarsh Kumar Mohapatra from All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhubaneswar.
The winners of the Bhubaneswar regional round were awarded a prize money of Rs. 75,000* and the runners up Rs. 35,000* respectively. The winners of the national finals will receive a grand prize of Rs. 5,00,000 /-* along with the coveted Tata Crucible Trophy. Besides the winners and the runners up, the Bhubaneswar stage finalist teams included Rahil Sur and Gourav Jeet Niar of KIIT, Avinsah Sahu and Ashirbad Rath of Xavier Institute of Management, Siddharth Mishra and Alankar Deva of KIIT and Ankit Jena and Suvam Palo of College of Engineering and Technology.

The Bhubaneswar regional round of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2017 enjoyed an enthusiastic response with 82 teams participating across the colleges. The name of the rounds and pattern of the quiz was themed around contemporary games. Each segment of the quiz was divided in three rounds titled ‘League of Legends’, ‘Need for Strategy’, and ‘Game of Crowns’. The quiz was hosted by ace quizmaster Giri Balasubramaniam, better known as ‘Pickbrain’ who kept the contestants and audience constantly engaged.
The final was absolutely riveting as the teams exchanged lead positions right through the quiz, making it a complete entertaining package for the audience. The AIMS duo played tactically well and did not take a single negative in the last rounds and held back smartly to settle for the runners-up position.
Present at the event and congratulating the winners Chief Guest Mr. Anup Kumar Nayak said, “The purpose of a quiz competition is to increase the quest for knowledge and Tata Crucible has truly achieved this objective. I would like to thank Tata group and the renowned quiz master Pickbrain to have created this opportunity for quiz enthusiasts and students alike. Today, we have seen a great display of sheer knowledge and hard work by the students who have gone ahead and played beyond the prize”.
The Zonal Finals will be organised in New Delhi (Zone 1), Kolkata (Zone 2), Mumbai (Zone 3), Coimbatore and Hyderabad (Zone 5). The top two teams from each zone will battle it out for the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2017 title at the National Finals to be held in Mumbai in April, 2017.
