hubaneswar: Reliance, Tata Group, JSW Group,Dalmia Bharat Group, Aditya Birla Group to sign MoU with Odisha Govt to promote development of sport. The Government of Odisha and leading industrialists will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding on the November 12 at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium. This was informeed by the Chandra Sarathi Behera, Minister for Sports and Youth Services.
In a special program named ‘Odisha Sports: Creating Partnerships for Excellence’, these leading industrialists will come forward to help promote the sports culture within the state by signing MoUs of sponsoring one sporting discipline each. The following sports are being sponsored by the following various industries’ foundation for Youth Sports – Athletics by Reliance Industries Group; Football and Swimming by JSW Group; Badminton by Dalmia Bharat Group; Weightlifting by Ahluwalia Group; Shooting by Aditya Birla Group; and Hockey by Tata Group.
Talking about this move, Chandra Sarathi Behera, Minister for Sports and Youth Services, said, “We are extremely appreciative of this association. These sporting disciplines were shortlisted as per their performance and the number of youth interested in taking up these sports. With this association, we will now be able to promote and protect the core values of sports for the youth at a global level.”
Apart from the signing of the MOU, the conference will also see the unveiling of the World Cup Trophy by Hon’ble Chief Minister and FIH President ahead of the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneshwar 2018.
