Bhubaneswar: Reliance Jio, the complete market leader in Odisha continues to be the most preferred mobile and digital service provider in the state. As per the latest telecom subscriber data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Jio added over 2.4 lakh subscribers in Odisha in the month of February 2020.
As the No. 1 mobile service provider in the state with highest number of subscribers as well as revenue market share, Reliance Jio has over 1.23 crore subscribers in the state as on 29th February 2020, as per the subscriber data released by TRAI, today.
Overall mobile subscriber base in Odisha witnessed an increase of nearly 2.06 lakh subscribers in the month of February taking the total mobile subscribers in Odisha to nearly 3.34 crores. As per the TRAI data for February 2020, Reliance Jio leads the market with 1,23,25,587 subscribers followed by Bharti Airtel with 1,15,35,226 subscribers, BSNL with 61,75,768 and Vodafone Idea with 33,41,790 subscribers in the state. Only Jio and BSNL were able to add subscribers in the month of February while both Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea lost thousands of subscribers in the state during same period, revealed the data released by TRAI. While Jio added over 2.4 lakh subscribers and BSNL added over 75000 subscribers, Bharti Airtel lost over 83,000 subscribers followed by Vodafone Idea which lost nearly 29000 subscribers in the month.
Nationally also Jio further consolidated its position as the No. 1 mobile service provider with addition of over 62.5 lakh subscribers in February 2020, as per the data released by TRAI.
It is worth mentioning here that Reliance Jio became the No. 1 mobile service provider in the state with highest number of mobile subscribers as well as dominant revenue market share as per the data released by TRAI for December 2019.
As the market leader in Odisha in both subscribers and revenue market share, Jio presently has nearly 36.9% subscriber market share and over 58% revenue market share (AGR) in the state. The rapid and continuous rise in the number of Jio subscribers in the state has been fuelled by its all 4G network, fast expansion of its 4G network coverage in the hitherto unconnected hinterlands and the hugely popular affordable ‘JioPhone – India ka Smartphone’ among the rural as well as semi-urban population.
As per the latest financial report on the sector released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India for the October-December 2019 quarter, Reliance Jio had consolidated its revenue leadership position in the telecom and digital services segment in Odisha, achieving 48% market share in gross revenue and over 58% market share in terms of adjusted gross revenue (AGR).
