Rain likely in Odisha from Aug 28 due to the influence of a cyclonic circulation

Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area is likely to form around August 28 under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal off the Gangetic West Bengal-Odisha coasts, which would induce rainfall in the State,

The Regional Office of India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal off Gangetic West Bengal-Odisha coasts extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form around August 28.

The IMD issued a ‘Yellow Warning’ for Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Baleswar, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Dhenkanal, Khordha, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur districts for August 28. On the day, Titilagarh recorded the highest rainfall of 63 mm.. It was followed by Keonjhar with 33 mm and Baleswar 29 mm.
