Prof. Sushil Kumar Dash elected as the President of the Indian Meteorological Society (IMS)

Bhubaneswar : Dr. Sushil Kumar Dash, Emeritus Professor in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has been elected as the President of the Indian Meteorological Society (IMS) for the years 2018-2020. IMS is a 60-year old Scientific Society with 30 Chapters across the country. Earlier Prof. Dash was the Head of the Centre for Atmospheric Sciences at IIT Delhi. He is a scientist of international repute with more than 125 journal publications and four books to his credit. He is Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society, UK and also Fellow of the Indian Meteorological Society. He had been a Senior Associate of the Abdus Salam ICTP, Trieste, Italy for about 14yrs. In addition, he is Life Member and Member of a number of national and international bodies such as the American Meteorological Society and the National Academy of Sciences, India. He has been deputed to a number of reputed institutions across the world as Visiting Scientist. Prof. Dash is the first Odia to get elected as the President of IMS. He is the youngest son of Late Smt. Chandrakala Dash and Late Sri Narayan Chandra Dash of Angul. He is married to Dr.(Mrs.) Shefali Dash (former Director General, NIC, Govt. of India) who is the eldest daughter of Smt. Kumudini Padhi and Late Sri Shyam Kumar Padhi of Khariar.
