Report by Nishapati Nayak, Koraput: Chancellor of the Central University of Orissa, Koraput Prof. P. V. Krishna Bhatta is paying a visit to the University during 1st April and 2nd April 2019. During his visit a series of meetings will be organised at the University campus. In the meeting he will interact with the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. S. K. Palita and Registrar, Prof. Asit Kumar Das, in respect of the academic and infrastructure development of the University. He will also interact with the teaching and non-teaching staff and students. This is the second visit of Prof. Bhatta to the University.
Keeping the importance of his visit the University is going to organise a special lecture programme. Prof. Bhatta will address the University community in the programme on 1st April, 2019.
Prof. P.V. Krishna Bhatta was appointed as the Chancellor of Central University of Orissa, Koraput by the Visitor of CUO, His Excellency, Hon’ble President of India in August 2018.
Prof. Krishna Bhatta is well known for his varied contributions to education and society.
He held many posts of importance such as Member of Legislative Council, Govt. of Karnataka from 1982 to 1985, Senate Member, Mysore University, Mysore from 1992 to 1998, Elected Senate & Syndicate Member, Kuvempu University, President of Vidyarthi Sikshana Seva Trust (R), Bengaluru, Member of Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Member of Court of Central University of Gujarat, Ex-Member of Karnataka State Council for Higher Education, Ex-Member of University Act Reform Committee 2016 – 2017, Academic Advisor of IGNCA Southern Regional Centre, Bengaluru 2000 – 2001, Convener of National Organising Committee for educational reforms setup by GOI as part of Republic Day celebrations in 2003. He was also a Member of Education Task Force set up by the Union HRD Ministry, Member of Grant in Aid committee for Adult education under NLM scheme, GOI. 2001, He was a Trustee and Executive Committee Member, IGNCA, New Delhi. He was also the Executive Committee Member, NAAC from 2004 to 2007.
