Bhubaneswar: The Prestigious Shreekhetra Shree Sammna has been conferred upon Mahapatra Sabita Hota for her significant contribution in the field of Music. She received the award from former union Minister Braja Kishore Tripathy on April 28, 2017 at 44th Shreekhetra Shree Award Ceremony held at Puri. An All India Radio empanelled vocal artist Smt. Hota is teaching Sanskrit in Kendriya Vidyalaya (I) Bhubaneswar.
Smt. Hota is an acclaimed Singer of All India Radio, Sambalpur, Cuttack in Odisha and Siliguri and Kolkatta in West Bengal. She has contributed more than 35 Songs to All India Radio Sambalpur alone. Her songs in Albums named ‘Krushna Kripa’ by ISCKON, Gopal Giti by Odissi Centre , Modern album ‘ Piala’, Telefilm ‘Kantha’, music album ‘Rajanigandha’ and Sambalpuri Audio Album ‘Srimati’ during 1990s and early 2000 have left indelible marks in the hearts of the Odia people living inside and outside the Odisha.
Daughter of Sri Harischandra Mahapatra and Smt. Manoroma Mahapatra, Smt. Hota has been trained by Revered Guru Singhari Shyam Sundar . A Post Graduate in Sanskrit and also in Education, she is teaching in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan for last 31 years. She has propagated the Odissi, Chhanda and Champu in Mumbai, Pune and Goa during her Job and Stay in these places for more than 16 years and has received several awards and laurels from Non Resident Odia Organisations based at Mumbai and Goa.
In her thanks giving note to the Art & Music Lovers of Odisha , Smt Sabita said that beyond her job life in Kendriya Vidyalaya , she is pursuing her mission to make Srimad Bhagabat Gita reaching every youth of Odisha in Odia verses through enchanting musical form.
