Bhubaneswar: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture headed by Shri Hukumdeo Narayan Yadav, Hon’ble Member of Parliament comprising 13 MPs visited ICAR-CIFA on 9th November, 2017. The team of Parliamentarians visited farm facilities and witnessed the haul of different variety of fishes.
The committee was overwhelmed and appreciated the research work carried out by ICAR-CIFA for domestication and dissemination of various indigenous fish varieties. An exhibition was also arranged to display all fingerlings and the technology products of ICAR-CIFA. The honorable MPs had an interaction session with the aquafarmers and entrepreneurs from select states of the country and took stock of the pressing problems faced by the farmers.
The committee also had a meeting with Director and Senior Officers of the Institute. The group of MPs offered several of suggestions to improve the outreach of the aquaculture technologies of the institute. Dr. J.K. Sundaray, Director, ICAR-CIFA and his team made all the arrangements seamlessly. The committee is on a study visit to Odisha during 8-10th November 2017.
