Bhubaneswar: One day workshop on Skill Development was organised by STSC Development Department in collaboration with Odisha Skill Development Authority here on Friday.
The workshop was addressed by Chairman, Odisha Skill Development Authority, Sri Subroto Bagchi, Principal Secretary, STSC Development Department Smt. Ranjana Chopra and Commissioner-cumSecretary Sri Sanjay Kumar Singh.
Sri Bagchi addressed the workshop and stated that the district level officials of STSC Development Department should focus to create at least 30 Role Models at the district and 1000 at the State level. In this regard a road map will be prepared by Department.
Smt. Chopra emphasized on Skill Development of Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe youths and stressed upon their empowerment, geographical mobility and marketability in the workforce.
Sri Singh said that skill development is not only for placement but also for self employment. He further stated that skill development programme will be extended for the development of primitive tribal groups of the State. At grass root level infrastructure development as well as hostel facilities will be strengthened so that ST&SC students will be attracted towards ITI and Skill Development Centres.
Director, (ST) ST&SC Development Department Sri Sachin Ramachandra Yadav discussed about the implementation of skill development by ITDA and OSFDC.
Five Role Models of the ST&SC Community Hemanta Tudu, (CNC Turner) Muni Tiga, (Locomotive Pilot, Indian Railway), Rabindranath Kisku, (IMMT, Technician), Sita Behera, (OPTCL Technician) and Sunaram Tudu, (CTTC, Faculty) shared their success stories in this workshop.
SCSTRTI Director Dr. Akhila Bihari Ota, Director, Employmentcum-CEO, OSDA, Smt. Rasmita Panda, Director, DT&ET, Sri Reghu G. were also present in the workshop.
