Bhubaneswar: A Two Days’ Workshop on Slope Stability Analysis, Prevention & Monitoring in Opencast Projects was organized by ISO Department(Safety &Rescue Dept.) MCL at MCL AUDITORIUM, Jagruti Vihar on 3rd& 4th May,2017. Sri S.RoyChoudhury, Chief of ISO, MCL welcomed all the dignitaries, resource persons as well as participants and briefed the the backdrop of the workshop.
The workshop was inaugurated by Sri A.K. Jha, CMD MCL on 3rd May, 2017 along with Sri K.K.Parida, Director(Finance), MCL with an advice to use the core competencies of individual, which is always proved to be the best techniques to eliminate hazard; be it slope failure or non-compaction of OB dump, reject dump, spoil dump, etc.
The workshop was facilitated by CMPDIL providing Sri A.K.Gupta, Chief Manager (C ), Sri Achint Kumar, Chief Manager( C ) and Sri S.K.Gara, Dy.Manager( C ) as resource persons. The main objective of the workshop was to sensitize the key officials including ISOthose who are involved in mining activities generating the OB dump, reject dump, etc. and in controlling its formation within permissible limit and as per the standards based on its geo-technical parameters to ensure its stability. Area General Managers, HODs and Executives of Corporate Office of MCL, Project Officers, Area Safety Officers, Safety Officers, Area Environment Officers, Project Environment Officers, Area Survey Officers,Safety Officers, etc. attended the workshop. Participants well interacted with the resource persons during the two days’ workshop and it came to an end on 4th May, 2017.
The valedictory session was graced by Sri J.P.Singh, Director(Technical/Operation), MCL. Sri Singh told about the real culprit of the slope failure in OB dump, spoil dump, highwall, etc. and advised one and all to work for the stabilization of dumps as well as highwall ensuring thereby safety. The workshop was well organized by Sri M.K.Singh, Chief Manager(Mining), Sri D.K.Khanda, Manager(Mining), Sri Prabhakar Sahoo, Sr.Manager(Mining) and all ISO officials under the guidance of Sri S.RoyChoudhury, Chief of ISO, MCL.
