Bhubaneswar: Odisha Tourism has participated in World Travel Market held in London. A special stall has been inaugurated to showcase state’s tourism products. Some of the highlights of the Odisha stall are exhibits on cultural heritage and sand art animations, depicting states landmarks.
Inaugurating the stall, Sri Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister, Tourism and Culture, Odisha said that with its effective tourism policy the state is poised to attract more foreign tourists to the state with increasing rate of tourist footfalls. He said that the state has ample scope for eco, religious and tribal tourism. On the other hand, Odisha has taken initiative for royal tourism and museum tourism to taste indigenous attractions, Sri Panda said.
The World Travel Market 2017 kick started at Excel, London from 6th to 8th November 2017. It is tipped to be one of the largest travel & tourism event on earth attended by more than 185 countries representing National Tourism Authorities, Regional & State Govt. Tourism Boards, Air Lines, Private Sectors, Tour Operators, Travel Agents, Destination Management Companies, International Bodies, hotel chains, Hospitality sector, Logistic Management, so many and so forth.
In this event Odisha has planned to showcase the rich cultural and bio-diversity destinations like the wonder lake Chilika, Bhitarkanika, Satkosia and other ecotourism destinations including the World Heritage monument of Konark and its unspoilt beaches of Odisha, said Dr. Mona Sharma, Principal Secretary, Department of Tourism, Govt. of Odisha.
Minister Sri Panda met and interacted with many Tour Operators from the travel trade for promotion of Odisha Tourism. Renowned sand artist and Brand Ambassador of Tourism Department Padmashree Sudarshan Patnaik is also showcasing Sand Art in the Odisha Tourism stand which is attracting many visitors. The delegation is also represented by Dr. Ratikanta Pattanayak from Odisha Tourism, prominent Tour Operators, Travel Agents and media representatives. Odisha Tourism has been participating in this mega tourism event since many years.
