Bhubaneswar: Odisha Tourism organised the second roadshow as part of its mission to promote tourism potentials aggressively in Bangkok. The event organised in association with the Embassy of India at Thailand and FICCI at Hotel Anantara saw more than 140 participants which included leading tour operators, travel agents, who’s who of the travel trade and diplomatic mission representatives from other countries as well.
The Charge d’Affaires of Embassy of India at Thailand Mr. Abbagani Ramu, Director Tourism Ms Archana Patnaik and Mr. Sanjay Kumar addressed the meeting where the state’s tourism potential was discussed. Odisha Tourism’s role as the host partner of the upcoming Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018 was highlighted and appreciated by all.
The stakeholders from Odisha namely Heritage Tours, Swosti Travels, Eastern Treasure Tours, Tropical Vacations, Fiesta Holidays were some of the names who participated in both the roadshow and later engaged in B2B meetings.
Director Tourism made a presentation highlighting the efforts of the Odisha government to increase tourism and infrastructure. The representative of Air Asia also made a presentation which was followed by a scintillating cultural programme of Odissi performed by Sutra Foundation which mesmerized the audience.
Vishal Dev, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Odisha Tourism & Sports & Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha said: “Tourism sector is one of the main focus of the state and since we receive a substantial tourist footfall from Southeast Asia, its quintessential for us to organise such roadshows to attract more visitors. We are harping on our cultural and maritime connection with the region.We further aim to bolster our efforts by organising marquee events such as Make in Odisha and Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar to revamp the image of the state and invite investors to exploit the tourism opportunity in the state.”
