Bhubaneswar: To make the state clean and green, the Tourism Department is undertaking to take a pledge on that day to ensure Odisha a plastic free, it was resolved in a review meeting to plan various programmes to celebrate ensuing World Tourism Day.
Under the United Nations World Tourism Organisation(UNWTO) umbrella, 27th September of each year is celebrated all over the world as World Tourism Day. The theme of this year is ‘Tourism and Digital Transformation’. Like previous years, it has been
decided that a Tourism Walk will start from Kalinga Stadium to terminate at Utkal Mandap. Cultural performances will be performed during the walk on different locations.
Arrangement have been made to extend traditional welcome to the guests at Biju Patnaik International Airport and Railway station at Bhubaneswar and Puri. Coinciding with the event a Food Festival is being organised at IDCO Exhibition Ground to start from 27th September which will continue till 8th October. To make this event broad base involving local communalities, tourism and cleanliness drive is being undertaken by the Tourist Officers in their respective districts. The Paryatan Bibhag Sanskrutika Parishad (Department’s Cultural Association) will organise cultural function in the evening on the theme of World Tourism Day.
A review meeting was held recently under the Chairmanship of Sri Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister, Tourism and Odia Langauage, Literature and Culture Department for
successful organisation of the World Tourism Day this year. Different activities have been lined up to celebrate this event through the participation of its stakeholders and general public at large.
